I do not know. Maybe I am just an old fashioned nerd. But I see the operating system and applications just as tools to do some real work. My data are magnitude more important for me than the system and its configuration. The system can be reinstalled and configured within hours or days. But the data might be result of years-work work. Then I see a big difference if my own data are stored on another filesystem that is separated from the system and might be preserved easily. You might argue that I should archive the data if they are so important for me. Or that the update works most of the time, the file system does get corrupted only rarely. But I still think that the new default behavior is not user-friendly. I do not agree with the reasoning (bug reported because of OpenQA machines, new setting is ok for servers and clouds). Is openSUSE really used primary for servers, clouds, and openQA?
