I think a better solution that keeps both types of users happy would have been
to pop up a dialogue the first time the key combination is used explaining what
it is and offering options
 (a) continue composing character and don't show this message again
 (b) deactivate special meaning of key combination for current session (this
message will be shown again in next session if key combination is pressed),
 (c) deactivate special meaning of key combination for this user
 (d) deactivate special meaning of key combination for all users (requires
root).

Should this be a new feature request or will it be seen here?
