I have never counted them (and I am not 100% certain that it is cookies or other data too). Perhaps you could consider the info in comment #15. Currently the only info I have is: [~/.config/chromium]: du -hs Default/ 161M Default/ [~/.config/chromium]: du -hs . 195M . chrome://settings/siteData shows that I have a total of 12 cookies from 5 sites. This gives me no scratching. It used to take 1-2 days of browsing till the issue reappeared.
