On Leap 42.3 (fresh install) and after the available updates it works again. Thanks to everyone involved in fixing this. Since I switched 42.3, I cannot verify if it works on 42.2 too. Now I can create a bug report about the HiDPI issue in gnome, as suggested by Max Staudt in "comment" 42.
