During initialization one can select Automatic Login for a user. However, after booting the system, that user is not automatic logged in. Also using System Settings in KDE -> Login Screen -> Advanced and setting Automatic login and a user, does not enable Automatic Login for that user. Only after setting the user name in the value for DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOMATICLOGIN= in /etc/sysconfig/displaymaneger one gets the automatic login for that user.
