Actually, I believe I got baselibs.conf to work - at least the library part, haven't looked into the devel packages, yet - also a master/slave mechanism for the update alternatives may be needed. This will work only if the fix from comment #5 is applied to /usr/lib/build/mkbaselibs. I will try to discuss this with the maintainer on Monday.
