I also have tried not using the YaST LDAP module but the 389 directory server
module and I basically saw no difference.  The documentation on LDAP seems
broken at best. I have yet to actually get LDAP working at all.  I've found
none of the online how-tos seem to work either.

Something is really broken.  I can try and provide logs, but it's basically
just a fresh install.

Even following the directions for the YaST 2 DS with creating a localhost entry
fails.

I'm sorry I don't have the logs at the moment.
