It seems one of the mariadb updates somehow disabled its service file. I noticed this after a server reboot - mariadb wasn't started anymore. # systemctl status mysql.service mysql.service - MySQL server Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/mysql.service; disabled) ^^^^^^^^ Now the question is when and how this happened. I didn't reboot that server for quite a while, but I'm sure mariadb was enabled and automatically started at previous reboots.
