Comment # 10 on bug 933565 from Chris Ward

The question of whether the OpenSuSE or fedora boot menu displays seems to
depend on the detailed power on/reset sequence for my external disk; but it
only happens after a kernel update, never after a fresh install. I'll reopen
the ticket so that if it happens to anyone else they can report it here.
