IMHO the Ubuntu ``fix'' isn't a fix nor a patch ... it looks like more a dirty hack to work around the problem and this will not go into a system wide /etc/bash.bashrc nor in any template below /etc/skel/ ... As I've said: report this upstream by using the bashbug command
