Just for the record using the "active" tab is OK for me. But from UX perspective (I don't have any diploma or anything) UI should not add burden to the workflow of the user. So IMHO remembering tabs is best, resetting is worst, keeping active tab is helpful and in the middle here. Switching 10 times disk nodes takes 10 mouse clicks. With tab reset it is 20 mouse clicks. And since partitioner is just one piece of software environment just think of the impact on user, here extra 10 click, there extra 10 clicks, after that... welcome RSI :-). Of course there is cost of implementing given feature, remembering can be costly, so using middle ground cuts the deal nicely.
