I tested the sane-backends from the "graphics" repository. Now things got
worse. When the mouse got disabled, that disabled state survived a reboot. I
needed to plug in a different mouse (Logitech M90), which worked. After that
the "problem-mouse" did work again. See the corresponding dmesg output:
