On behalf of jira#SLE-10162 we're going to provide a new 'zypper purge-kernels' builtin command. Changing the service to use zypper rather than the /sbin/purge-kernels script will resolve: Bug #1131629 - [dracut] purge-kernels.service ignores /etc/zypp/locks Bug #768947 - purge-kernels does not log to /var/log/zypp/history
