As per my explanatory comments above I rebased all the patches to look as small
as possible moving the noop changes to additional commits. It should make the
review possible for you and you could actually finaly merge the patchset.
Let me please know if you still don't understand some parts, I tried to explain
it also in the commit messages so it should be clear to you what is happening
in there.
