I no longer can make sense of the data/experiments. I have three commands (pactl, pactl and amixer). In xinit file they don't work. Then I try one of them in terminal (amixer) and xbiff makes sound. Then I put them in different order in xinit (amixer last). No sound. Now, multiple times, I tried all three in terminal and xbiff is still silent. Would you know of any logs that may be helpful?
