OK, tried kernel-vanilla from your repo, same result. Power led goes solid and
fan starts, no display, it stays on standby.

my keyboard (logi mx keys) does not have sysrq, (that I can find) so can't test
sysrq +S or +B. I will go on a hunt for another keyboard and let you know if I
can find one.
