I did a quick check locally, and found that the difference is rather the
default iocharset option for exfat.  On SLE15-SP4, it's (still) iso8859-1 while
on TW it's utf8.  The behavior itself is same on both kernels when iocharset is
passed explicitly (EINVAL with iso8859-1 and ENAMETOOLONG with utf8).
