I have to "pause" this bug report to state "needs more analysis" from my side, and maybe withdraw it: Seems the Western Digital "WDC WD2000FYYZ-01UL1B1" is a "diva", or more technical, the HDD controller (or its firmware) does not work well with controllers in SATA I and SATA II mode. A detailed description I found at amazon buyers reviews (its in German language): http://www.amazon.de/product-reviews/B0090UFNR6/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_summary/277-5621623-3411642?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=byRankDescending Also, after found out about a undocumented jumper setting, forcing the drive i SATA II mode (currently it is setup as SATA I), I get worse freezes and hickups with all OS on my PC (Windows, OS 11.4 and 13.1). So almost sure this is a lack of compatibility with older SATA standards of the drive. I will open a call at Western Digital to confirm that and as soon above is confirmed close this bug report. Sorry for any inconvenience!
