It's not clear to me whether Thomas meant to activate the network
a) in linuxrc already, before YaST starts, to access the repos, or
b) after YaST has mounted the partition being upgraded

In the first case, we would probably need to reapply the network settings which
would complicate matters and so we probably don't want to do that
It could work out in the second case, but I havent worked out the details. The
