d_ed mentioned there is a risk to get into infinite loops with this patch since
it requires also other patches, so I'll revoke it for now until I examine it
closely and check what other patches are needed

IMO out of scope for 15.0 - it's a rather big patchset IMO and not without risk
of regressions.
