Running with strace is slowing Chrome down to the degree that it's unusable and therefore it's a no-op. And I haven't been able to start it with gdb yet since it requires a target executable and I haven't had time to sort out the start script that launches Chrome in order to get it right. I don't have too much time to spend on this. And it keeps causing these same problems. Just now it even crashed Chrome altogether.
