Comment # 13 on bug 1117833 from Atri Bhattacharya

Can someone try booting the system with the kernel parameter "spectre_v2=off"
and see if that helps at all? It helps mitigate this same problem on my system
(as does disabling hyperthreading entirely from BIOS settings, if that is an
option).
