To me, this sounds like a problem with the radeon kernel driver. It's what provides KMS and the fb device on modern systems. In any case, we no longer have a setup to test AGP graphics in, so we won't be able to reproduce your problem I'm afraid. Could you please post a full dmesg output? Maybe we'll spot something.
