Because of:

Torsten Duwe informed me that, normally, such systems (ppc) are initiated using
the option "console=hvc" and then installed through the console. When we use
this option there is no problem with the console, there are no wrong chars in
the yast welcome screen, and the welcome screen design is not broken.
