@Michael:

OK, thanks for the reply on it.  So, in other words, this problem will likely
come and go, due to the Macintosh "inner nature"??  Still, the intermittent
behavior is irritating . . . .

I believe that in some of my opensuse installs, "we" (at yr suggestion) did
lock shim at some point, maybe a year ago??  Not sure if I did that in this
install of Leap . . . .

Back into the monitoring of it.
