Also, in bug 1048356, we identified that the problem is rather in i915 side, HDMI/DP audio. If 4.12 works and my 4.4.x kernel (or later Leap release kernel) doesn't, try to create a file /etc/modprobe.d/60-hda.conf containing the following line: options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=0x01 Then reboot and retest.
