Generally xdg-utils isn't calling specific applications, in this case it should be looking up the default file manager, from however LXQt / xfce etc is storing it and using that, some users may want to use an alternate filemanager and hardcoding something in xdg-utils would break that. Other distro's may also call pcmanfm-qt just pcmanfm etc. The ideal solution would be for LXQt to set a default filemanager of pcmanfm-qt
