As far as I know Live images do not even support EFI boot and your original
report was for full DVD, not for Live.

How is it related to GRUB inability to find its configuration?

Sorry, I am not convinced these tests actually tested the problem. You should
have used the same image as in comment 16 to be sure we test the same problem.
