Sorry for the delay in answering.  I haven't been successful in getting dmesg
output from 13.1, I'm afraid.  I tried creating a "live" boot image on a flash
drive, but my my BIOS, unfortunately, won't boot the flash drive unless I
enable "legacy" USB support, and enabling legacy USB support prevents Linux
from seeing my USB3 disks.  (The second "dmesg -c" in your test procedure
results in a zero-byte file.)

Do you think this information will really help?  I could try to come up with
some other way to run 13.1 to do the test, but it'll take some work, so I want
to make sure it's worth the trouble.
