However, this looks very strange: the register dumps are identical in both
working and non-working cases.  So, from the hardware setup POV, both should
behave same, but by some unknown reason, the output differs.  Hmm.

This might be due to the runtime PM where the codec is suspended.

Likely the same problem.  A kind of expected behavior.

Could you try the following?

- Create a file /etc/modprobe.d/61-hda.conf, containing the following line:

options snd-hda-intel power_save_controller=0

and reboot / retest.
