1. I tried 'nouveau.modeset=0' which seemed to solve the issue, and the machine
booted to the GDM login menu. (Then I also verified that at least some new
installations of previous openSUSE versions also had caused the same issue, and
that I solved those by adding the 'nomodeset' boot option).

2. However my current Leap 15.0 installation had not finished complete or
successful, because I was not able to logon as a Gnome user. Therefore I did a
new attempt to install it new from the DVD again. Then the previous missing
software error arised also this time:

"This package need to install: iw
Please manually select the needed item to install"

3. Even that I configured wlan0, the previous error loop continued and
reported:
"The network is not configured."

Quitted this at last and got the same error regarding the missing 'iw' package,
and had to skip the new Leap 15.0 installation.

4. To come further I rather made an Upgrade DVD installation over my previous
Leap 42.3/Gnome desktop installation. I just manually had to accept several
packages to upgrade from a the new distributor, and then the big upgrade
continued well. After logon I had to edit /etc/resolv.conf manually to get
Internet (as Firefox just reported "The server not found"). My limited test so
far seems that Leap 15.0 upgrade works well.
