My old menu file that does show the behavior I'd expect
On my recently installed OS 13.2 system, the default menu structure for desktop
applications (/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu) seems to mess up (most)
applications that only define a top category. E.g., skype has a definition in
the desktop file:
Categories=Network;Application;
So I would expect this to show up under Internet->More Programs. However, it
gets dumped in Applications in the main menu, just as a lot of games that only
specify "Categories=Game;"
So despite being defined in the applications.menu, the 'More Programs' submenu
does not show up, despite candidates being around.
Must have to do with the xml file itself, if I replace it with an old (edited)
version I have from OS 12.1 (I think) applications are sorted correctly in the
menus...
I attach it for reference (but it tries to include quite some stuff that isn't
there anymore - but it still works for me)
