I have firewire, but in my production machine. I encountered too much problems in Opensuse tumbleweed for my daily work, not only the jack problem, so i installed Bodhi Linux. By now i use OpenSuse Tumbleweed only in my laptop. There it works great, but i don't have firewire connections in it and cannot try your solution. I'm really sorry for that.
