It would have been better to keep the feature in yast as long as the group tag is not deprecated, yes, especially as the rpm version hasn't changed between SLE 15 SP1 and SP2 and no Group tags have been removed intentionally in the packages. It could be re-enabled in yast until some other solution is found, but I doubt that will be done.
