qemu supports these sound cards: - Creative SoundBlaster 16 sound card - ENSONIQ AudioPCI ES1370 sound card - Intel 82801AA AC97 Audio compatible sound card - Intel HD Audio Controller and HDA codec - Adlib (OPL2) - Yamaha YM3812 compatible chip - Gravis Ultrasound GF1 sound card - CS4231A compatible sound card out of these at least 82801AA AC97 and ES1370 are PCI devices that *can* be connected to any system that emulates PCI bus including the ppc64 pSeries VM. The openQA machines use 82801AA which is supported by CONFIG_SND_INTEL8X0. AFAICT neither of these sound drivers is enabled on ppc64 and ppc64le. I am not convinced any of these emulations is superior to the others so enabling one should suffice for testing sound features in qemu.
