Deleting all the "unknown" identities from the file emailidentities helped! For the rest: What is the use of Suse's bugzilla, if nobody gives a damn! For one month kmail is close to unusable and now ! you are telling me to make a bug report elsewhere. OK. I did. There already was one: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=374734 Clearly, the error came from the update to v16.12, but until today, the bug isn't even confirmed by the KDE folks. Sigh... However, thank you for your much appreciated help, Luca.
