I can't reproduce it using openSUSE 13.1 and GNU screen 4.3.0. My $TERM is 'screen' (in screen) and 'xterm' (without screen). Can you update GNU screen and try it again? My "4.3.0" submit request stops there: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/Base:System/screen
