With 4.12.14-lp151.28.44-default chrome://sandbox/ shows: Ptrace Protection with Yama LSM (Broker) No Ptrace Protection with Yama LSM (Non-broker) No After looking for info on the topic I found that this depends on how the kernel is built, i.e. it needs CONFIG_SECURITY_YAMA at build-time to enable this security feature: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/security/Yama.txt
