plymouth become grey after every kernel update, seems some script breaks
plymouth settings there. Reinstalling nouveau packages solves the problem:
plymouth become normal again: seems update nouveau scripts in packages fixes
plymouth settings. 

However this is only for nouveau driver. For nvidia driver - still black
screen. Are You going to fix this issue?!
