Based on the indicated openSUSE version, I assume you are running Leap 42.1. This one has currently the 0.9.6 version for libmlt as the latest version. KDE:Applications has libmlt 0.9.6 there to support oS 13.2. For Leap and Tumbleweed it will use the version available from those main repositories. So I guess that Todd needs to submit the updated package also to Leap and not only to Factory.
