Standard update procedure by Yast2 and/or automatic update procedure is/(was?) sometimes multiplying entries to the optional kernel parameters until the parameter space is filled. I don't know when exactly this is/was happening during a lot of update procedures. But when the space is filled, further normal update touching/changing boot/boot parameters/kernel is only possible after deleting the redundant optional boot parameters using Yast. Because I've new hardware(Ryzen,AMD RX460), I was often changing the kernel trying to use the most actual version (now 4.11.3-5.gbf7afe3-vanilla). For some weeks all tries to update - automatic update procedure; update using Yast - done not from the update process of the install DVD were leading to permanent hangers of the update routine, when they are touching boot software (e.g. changing kernel, boot software, boot order). Then I looked for the optional kernel parameters, because I wanted to change the optional kernel parameters. My kernel parameter setting for the optional parameters of the kernel command line ("Optionaler Parameter fr Kernel-Befehlszeile"): resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/105646d5-63ca-4ea5-84b0-e26f7437693d splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/105646d5-63ca-4ea5-84b0-e26f7437693d splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts resume=/dev/sda2 splash=silent quiet showopts
