Hopefully you will get boot messages then, that should show at what point in
the boot process it "hangs".

As this "long pause" happens even before the login screen shows, it can't be a
problem of the KDE desktop.
It may be the login screen that takes long to start though.
So please also try to set DISPLAYMANAGER="xdm" in
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, to use a simpler one, and see if that helps.

If not, it must be a problem on some lower level, like e.g. a failing mount or
similar.
Maybe the top lines of "systemd-analyze blame" will give a clue.
