Seems like I once again spoke "too soon" on this grub2 problem, as once again grub errors out via "Moklist not found" . . . even though yesterday the machine booted to grub just fine. Today, with no recent upgrades run through . . . it boots to grub rescue?? Seems like it's very difficult for openSUSE to keep a stable grub file?? In this case the machine's only grub listing is Leap 5.5. Had to boot again via SuperGrub2 flash drive.
