When trying to start gnuclient on leap 15 it fails badly. Using the standard emacs from the distribution it states: error in process filter: invalid function: 1 when performing an upgrade to emacs 26.1 the error message is error in process filter: Wrong type argument: listp, "/home/fred/.profile" when trying to load ".profile" into a gnuclient - buffer. The related entries in .gnu-emacs-custom are: (autoload 'gnuserv-start "gnuserv-compat") (add-hook 'emacs-startup-hook '(lambda() (gnuserv-start))) what used to work for decades. Maybe Mr. Fink would be a knowledgeable person in this regard? Thanks anyways for looking into this ... Dieter Jurzitza
