Quite some packages depends on gpgme.
What Feature of gpgme is so desparately needed?
What incompatible changes does it bring?
What if we stay with the current KDE Applications?

gpgme is also SLE. It was forked in 42.1 already for Leap. Maybe we can merge
with SP3 again? If a newer gpgme is needed for KDE also the Backports project
is affected in case KDE is meant to be synced with Leap there too.
