My apologies for making a bit of a mess of attempting multiple attachments.
Story is:

1. As root, tried modprobe lp. I assume this ran, but there was no feedback
other than root prompt.

2. Checked existing software. Parallel Printer Support Package appears to be
present.

3. Power down, boot up. Attempted yet again to attach HP LaserJet 5MP
(Centronics cable) printer correctly, and to select driver (different one this
time). Appears to be OK (see attachment).

4. But when I attempted to perform a test print, nothing happened. No activity
on printer lights, no print! See attachment "printer failed to print".

5. Attached CUPS error log: Bad Driver Information File.

My motherboard does not have a Centronics interface, but I provided this with a
daughter card. It all worked well for earlier SuSE distributions, but I do not
upgrade very often.

Hope you can help here!
