Created attachment 757245 [details] copy & paste from konsole window that started k3b (I closed K3B when 3/4 of 4GB RAM had been consumed for this 42.2 attempt) Occurs on 42.3/KDE3 Haswell host msi85 and EagleLake host big41 in both 42.3/KDE3 and 42.2/KDE3 kde3-k3b-1.0.5-67.51.x86_64 installed on 42.3 on msi85 mailing list post: https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde3/2018-01/msg00001.html Worked as expected until updates of recent weeks. Remains capable of burning existing DVD .iso To reproduce: 1-start K3B 2-configure temporary location where exists adequate space for the temporary .iso 3-select copy DVD 4-insert copyable video DVD 5-select use same device for source and target 6-start copy Actual behavior: 1-DVD drive stays quiet 2-K3B reports no progress 3-top reports escalating RAM consumption 4-CPU pegs 5-K3B abends on reaching OOM state 6-0 byte .iso file is written to configured tmp directory Expected behavior: 1-DVD drive spins 2-K3B reports progress 3-DVD ejects when read is complete 4-K3B reports progress when blank media is inserted 5-useable DVD copy eventually ejects
