Maybe we can discuss an alternative approach here:

- Would you accept a split of the xterm package in two parts:
* xterm-bin
* xeterm

xterm-bin would contain the actual app, making it work on a regular system, as
intended, as fallback

xterm would contain the .desktop file and the corresponding icons.

the above mentioned packages depending on xterm would be rewritten to depend on
xterm-bin.

As a aconsequence, a user installing xterm will always get the full package,
including showing it in overview, no hiding, no mangling.
