This bug/family of annoying bugs, is not exterminated.
I have been using all off the new mesa and xorg stuff from the X11:/XOrg repo and the newest kernels from Kernel:/HEAD, however 2.6.36 will not boot as of yet.
I am running factory with factory KDE 4.5 and I can get it to lock up anytime I want by just running compiz and or turning on the screensaver. it doesnt matter what screensaver. Sometimes i can move the mouse for a min, other times I cant.
With so many changes to the original openSUSE 11.3 you cannot expect to find any bug. Especially with using Compiz together with KDE4 you open a new can of potential bugs. The problem described here are with desktop effects of KDEs kwin.
I have had this problem starting with 11.3 and all the way up into factory everything.
If I dont let the SS turn on, and I dont use any desktop effects, I dont have any issues. This is not a long term option for me. We cant break video like this. Are we trying to bury linux back to early 90s when it sucked almost as much as it still does?
Doing so much changes to a released system is no long term option. If we ever want to sort out bugs, we have make reports against installation of a clean openSUSE 11.3 or at least something close to it.
BTW: You didn't mention what hardware aou are using, especially which graphics chip.
First of all, I told you that I can make it crash by simply turning on the Screen saver. This goes for the downloaded suse 11.3 cd as well. The fact that I have the exact same problem from suse 11.3 on all the way up to factory means that the problem has not beem solved. The fact that I was running kde 4.5 in suse 11.2 without any problems whatsoever means it IS NOT KDE. I have the GM4500 graphics chip -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
