Well really verify if it does happen with empty profile. Because if we can't reproduce it that means something is really using the disc cache a lot. Alternatively try to launch it without the size cache parameter to see if something happens by picking generic size of it. And as last you will need to run full strace output on your chromium so we could see what all files it is writting/accessing during app shutdown...
